Obituary

Rose (Macaione) Landry
Landry, Rose (Macaione) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the age of 89. Rose, a first generation Italian-American, was born in Methuen, Massachusetts on February 6, 1930 to Peter and Nancy Macaione. Rose married Roger Landry on May 25, 1963. They lived together in Garden Grove for 53 years until his passing in December 2016. Rose is survived by her daughters Laura Fox and Tina Hennig, five grandchildren, two sons-in-law, brother, and sister-in-law. Rose was a homemaker for 55 years and was a volunteer at heart. She volunteered in various organizations throughout her life including Italian Catholic Federation, LACC student clubs, PTA, Campfire Girls, CHOC Lamplighters Guild, and Women’s Civic Club of Garden Grove. Rose was always willing to help. Prior to becoming a homemaker, Rose worked for Los Angeles City Hall for 16 years. She was always well regarded and highly sought after in every position she held. She was known for her honesty, loyalty, efficiency, and hard-work ethic. While her children attended Bryant Elementary School, Rose worked as school Librarian. Rose was an amazing cook and loved having family get togethers at her house. She was a fun loving grandma, devoted mother, and loyal friend. Rose was also determined. She wanted to see Europe, and as a young woman, all by herself, she boarded the Queen Mary and sailed to Europe, where she visited numerous countries, with the highlight of her trip being Italy, the country of her parents’ birth. She sailed home on the Queen Elizabeth. Rose was the heart of our family and is dearly missed. Her faith, strong love of family, friendliness, and Italian traditions will live as a legacy with her family.
