Ricardo “Renny” Cayabyab Padilla of Murrieta, CA passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday November 12, 2019. He was 68 years old. Renny was born in San Carlos, Pangasinan, Philippines on February 7, 1951 to Enrique and Marcela Cayabyab Padilla. Renny was married to Tina Cabibbo Padilla on October 12, 1991 in San Diego, CA. Renny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He cherished his children: Marissa (Paul) Balagot, Vanessa (Ryan) O’Neal, Renny Enrique Padilla and Natalie Padilla. He was the proud grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren: Jayla, Makenna, Cristiana and Liam. Renny was a true family man and is also survived by his younger siblings: Merna (Michael) Antone, Henry (Annette) Padilla, Enrique (Culver) Padilla and Marlone (Percy) Padilla. He treasured his large extended Filipino and Italian family of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and father in law.

Renny proudly served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne unit from January 1971-January 1977. If asked about his service, he fondly recounted memories of being “gung-ho”, jumping out of airplanes, and camaraderie. He reserved the memories of the Vietnam war to himself. His passions included martial arts, surfing, hunting and cooking. He achieved the honor of 5th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He loved creating culinary delights for his family and friends and created a reputation of always “over-feeding” everyone. He looked forward to his annual hunting trips with his brother Henry and occasionally would invite a few privileged individuals to join them. These trips were his sacred retreats and no physical ailment ever prevented his participation. Last year he delayed knee replacement surgery by one month so he could hunt boar in the heat of August. Renny spent 40 years perfecting his craftmanship of finish carpentry/woodworking. He successfully ran his small general contracting business for the last 30 years. His beautiful creations live on through the cabinetry and woodworking gracing the homes of many including his father-in-law Sam and his own Murrieta home.

Most importantly, Renny will be remembered for his gentle, sometimes subtle, goofy sense of humor. He always made people laugh. Instinctively, he knew how to brighten someone’s day. If pictures tell the story of a man’s life, then goofy faces and spoons hanging off his nose are evidenced throughout the years and live on as his legacy through excellent imitations from his children and grandchildren.
