Obituary

Karen Ann Watkins, age 77, died on August 22, 2019. She is survived by her husband just shy of 60 years; her younger sister Jackie, children Barbara, Ralph, Rodger, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, her father and her grand-daughter.

Mrs. Watkins was born on October 17, 1941 in Granite City, Illinois, to parents Ralph Clark Niepert and Edwa Leurayne Rodgers. She graduated from Roxana Senior High School in Illinois were she was active in drill team, the pep-squad and band were she was received the John Phillip Sousa Award. In 1980, she moved to California along with her family.

Karen was a great wife and loving mother. She married William Wren Watkins April 8th of 1960 and the couple had 3 children together. Later, Karen became the grandmother to 15 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 23 grandchildren soon to be 24.

Karen was a social, active woman who was deeply involved in her husband’s baseball playing. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and was an amazing baker and cook. Her family and friends will always remember her as an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, BYU Cougars and the 49ers’ quarterback #8, Steve Young.

A funeral service and interment are scheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2019 with a reception to follow. Additional information can be viewed on this site. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen Ann Watkins’ life. Flowers and donations can be sent to Murrieta Valley Funeral Home, she loved the colors Purple/Lavender and roses.
