Mrs. Betty Jean Willoughby-Westbrook was born on May 12, 1933 in Gleason, Tennessee to the late George Irvine and Elizabeth Katherine Ralston Irvine. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended Miles Chapel and later Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church both located in Martin, Tennessee. She attended School in Dresden, Tennessee and later graduated from school in Martin, Tennessee. She united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. William George Willoughby for 18 years. With this union they had a total of 9 children. While living in Martin, she was a Mother, housewife and later worked at Martin Manufactory Company as a Seamstress. After moving to San Francisco, California she married the late Moses Edgar Truly Westbrook (Wes) until he went home to be with the Lord. They were married for 19 years. They were members of “The Social Twelve Club” serving and helping the homeless and people who were in need. After the passing of Wes, she moved to San Diego, Ca with her son Dale D. Willoughby. There she became a member of Mesa View Church located in Poway, Ca. Betty Jean grew up with (4) brothers which she loved dearly. They helped mode her into the woman that she was “Strong and Resilient”. No matter what was going on, her faith in God stood steadfast. She loved people and people loved equally. Always giving to others. She would give you the shirt off her back. She loved to travel, loved to collect PIG figurines. Ironically, her favorite food consisted of all parts of the Pig. She loved all types of music, one of her favorites was “Freeway of Love” by Aretha Franklin. She enjoyed Western Movies and The Young and the Restless. Her style was very unique. She could take anything and made it look like it something that came from Bloomingdale’s or Sax Fifth Avenue. On Tuesday September 24, 2019, God called her home to Glory. She was preceded in death by (1) daughter: Pamelyn O. Doli (4) sons: Charles Roy Moore; Lewis Ray Willoughby; William Stanley Willoughby; Jerome Willoughby and (4) brothers: Robert Irvine; Leroy Irvine, Charlie Irvine and Bobby Joe Irvine. She leaves to cherish her memories of two daughters Katherine Regina Cavitt of Sacramento, Ca, Mildred Lafon Kurano (Ken) of San Lorenzo, California; two sons Terry Irvine of Memphis, Tennessee; Dale D. Willoughby of Hemet Ca. Glandia Brasfield (daughter in law) her adopted son Freddie Brasfield both of Martin, Tn. A Special son Forrest Rogers Jr. of Hemet,Ca. 17 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grand children and 6 great-great grandchildren. She also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mother’s love is so special, it’s something that we can’t describe. It’s the kind of Love that stays with you forever. We will like to thank God for allowing her to be our Mother. We will miss her dearly and her Love will be with us always.
